And they couldn’t be more correct. They have blogged about Traffic and everyone would seem to be in agreement with all and sundry that Traffic is supremely important. No matter if in the real world or the cyber world, traffic dictates the gap between win and failure of a campaign. It has been said that if you invent a more efficient mousetrap, the world will find its way to your door. True as it may sound, finding nothing available, the world will buy a substitute. And this brings us back to the subject of omni-potent traffic. With some traffic, a purchase will be concluded. Online, what would be the method to seduce traffic? Yahoo built a gateway to online wonderland and it held the upperhand over lesser sites. It seemed to be a destination. Traffic came to Yahoo because it was complete. It was the approximation of a mall in the offline world. Free services, etc., attracted traffic that repeated. In its heyday, Yahoo was synonymous with the Internet. One day came a spider, Google, with its unprecedented matrix of search engines. A hungry indexing machine, it indexed everything in a website, links and all. And that’s how Page Rank became inordinately paramount. Google spiders your sites fast with the most relevant results for your search phrase when compared to yahoo or the other search engines. And it edged out the gigantic Yahoo as the head honcho of the Net. Marketers could now rely on a repeatable way for having their services discovered. Adsense and Adwords and similar services came to be the arena of online sales. Colorful banners gave way to unpretentious text ads which gave greater information on a much tinier web real estate. Advanced technology evolved to be more effective. Social Networking sites soon became the coming thing and posed a challenge to Google’s stranglehold on traffic. It seemed like a revolution of sorts when the little people banded together to have their own party. It is conceivable that the heyday of the Social Networking sites have dissipated, probably due to natural causes. And it is mostly now used for internet marketing and we find our way back to Search Engines; they serve potential buyers and sellers together more efficiently.
